General Blackjack Players Choices
In Addition to the traditional game of Blackjack Players Choices as Hit option (take one more card) and Stand option (ask for no more cards) all the gamers have the ability to use the advantage of additional Blackjack Players Choices, such as Splitting option, Doubling Down and the less frequently used options as Surrendering option and Insurance option.
Split option
The Splitting pairs solution can be chosen when the first 2 cards given to the player are a pair of the same rank. The player then has a chance to divide the first two cards making two separate and independent combinations and automatically be dealt 1 more card to each hand. This choice needs one more wager that is as the initial bet.
Example, let’s imagine the first two cards given to the gambler are two 8’s. (Actually this is the best example of situation when splitting, as in other cases the combination would be valued as 16, that means a very high chance of busting if the gamer hits and a small chance of winning if he decides to stand). The player chooses to split and raises the initial bet of $5 to $10. The croupier gives additional card to each new hand. If the first hand was dealt the Ace and another hand a 5. The player stands on the first hand combination with the value of soft 19, and hits on another hand combination receiving a 10 and losing with 23. Let’s say the dealer has 17, that means the player wins with the first hand combination and loses with the second combination.
Doubling Down
The Doubling Down Blackjack Players Choices permit the player to raise his or her wager in case he or she is 100% positive that just one extra card can make his/her hand combination stronger than that of the croupier. The bet is raised two times, but some gambling halls permit Doubling for less than 2 times. This ability is known as the Doubling Down option for less. The option of Doubling Down gives a huge advantage to the gamer as he may gain much more. In case the gambler hand is a nine or a ten or 11 valued one, it is adviced that he or she doubles cause there is a large probability of getting a strong combination with one more card.
Surrendering
The Surrendering option though not very popular has 2 variants. These versions of Blackjack Players Choices are called Early and Late Surrendering. Early Surrender option is the solution that allows the player to give up his/her combination and half of his/her original wager prior the croupier checks his cards for Natural. This provides a bigger advantage to the gamer and this is the reason why it is practically not offered. The Late Surrender although still seldom seen permits the player to give up 0.5 of his or her wager and hand only as soon as the croupier has verified his cards (it is to be noted that in case the croupier has a natural, no gambler is let to Surrender and all the gamblers lose with the exception of those that also have a Natural that ties).
Surrendering Blackjack Players Choices are advised when the gambler has a hand combination with a high probability of losing if he or she chooses to hit against a croupier high face up card.
Insurance
Insuring is provided to all the players in the event the croupier face up card is an Ace. In these cases, all the gamers are offered to insure their bets against the dealer blackjack. The price of the wager is usually half of the initial one and pays out (in case the croupier does have a natural) 2-to-1. So, when placing the insurance wager you risk only 1/2 of the original wager. Still, the Insurance option is viewed as a vain one as only the experienced card counters may tell when the croupier MIGHT have a blackjack.
